It's very striking the way there's so much contrast between the body and surroundings. And I like the way you created depth with foreshortening. Also, I'm interested in what an important role that yellow flower plays in the composition (try covering it up!). The woman also appears to be looking at it. Maybe you just needed a bright accent there. But I wonder if there's anything symbolic about that object.

Thank you Don for your comments on my painting. You picked up on the symbolism in this piece. The yellow flower is Vincent, yes Vincent Van Gogh. She is the lover and perhaps the model for his artwork. She waits for him to come and yet the connection can never be. She forever lookes out the window posed and waiting for her Vincent. He is there in the yellow flower. Most of my artwork carries some sort of double meaning and you picked up on it. That pleases me. Vincent had so much passion in his soul and as for her she longs for that passion to come into her life.

Hi Johny and thank you for the nice comments. The Mistress she is a secret of sorts. I suppose the viewer can read the story. I painted her and then thought of Van Gogh's emotional pain. I painted a tiny sunflower for her to gaze upon. I put her up in a solo show I had and she was the first painting sold. The lady who bought her said that the painting would hang over her fireplace. So The Mistress hangs above flames. Interesting I thought!
